Survivor Title - What counts as a death
I am getting close to the survivor title on one of my characters and was wondering what is considered a "death" by the game. I am running out of quests to do and am a little nervous about missions. This is what I want to know. I attempted to do a search on this several times, but the search function was disabled.
1- If you are on a mission where the NPC dies and the mission ends, does that count as a death? 2- If you die in PvP, does that count as a "death"? I am avoiding missions with NPC's in them just for the fear that this would be counted as a "death" as far as the title goes. |

1. No. Even though it looks like you are dead you aren't. Death count should still be zero.
2. Yes. If you die in PvP that counts as a death. You can do missions with NPCs. If they die it shouldn't matter. Only when your character is specifically killed is there a death. |

Lafayette's right. And just before anyone asks, yes, Dragon Arena deaths count too. It's PvP. >_>

Preventing yourself from dying after pre-searing to get your survivor title?
Okay, I created a new character that I intend to acheive the "Survivor" title with (gain lots of experience without dying). Don't worry, I will not enter PuG's with this character, since Survivors may tend to leave games before they die to preserve their title. I will only use hechmen, along with guildies who also plan on seeking the survivor title with me. Survivor teams ftw
However, there was a problem: After pre-searing in Ascalon, you are put into a group of people (or henchies), and you do a 3 minute PvP battle with another random team. However, my character (who I intend to seek the Survivor title) died here 2 times. I had no idea that deaths here would count as deaths to prevent me from getting my Survivor title. I type /deaths and the message says "You have died 2 times". Now this makes me feel annoyed. Now I have to re-start a new character to get my survivor title. How can I possibly acheive my survivor title if I am going to do a 3 minute PvP fight? I can probably tank a little bit, but it would be hard to survive the whole way through Is there any way to avoid this problem? I do not wish to participate in the 3 minute PvP battle after pre-searing. I want my survivor title. What can I do to stop myself from dying? Any thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Thanks in advance. |

I have heard you can log out, and when you log back in later you go to the mission or post-Searing, not sure which.
I have not confirmed it. I have, on one character, managed to skip the PVP entirely by chance. I clicked to leave pre-Searing and went straight to the mission. I rather wish ArenaNet would remove that PVP bit, though. It's not really indicative of what PVP is like. |

The above is true when you load in to the PVP bit log off then back on and you will appear at the missions where you have to kill the char with a set of henchmen.

You can run around for three minutes, or retreat way into the back of the area.
An other option is check what kind of players are in your team. When you don't like it, simply leave. Don't worry. Hardily anybody is taking that part serious, and will not be annoyed when you leave. It would be nice if you gave them warning in advance, but many of them will completely ignore you not able to speak english. |

i can confirm the log off trick
that pvp fight is pretty easy though .. if u dont wanna skip it.. -xp yer char a bit, lvl 5 can be done pretty easily -do it when fewer ppl are online in inter chan, u ll get lotsa henchies on both sides .. btw when the pvp fight is henchies ONLY, it's skipped as well i did it with a lvl 2 R and a lvl 3 N, just let the ppl come and killed em easily, most ppl are rushing the thing so they are lvl 2-3 most of the time |

I can confirm that quitting/logging out when the PVP battle starts, and then logging back in a bit later will take you to after the battle, where Prince Rurik does his little speech, etc.
I learned the hard way about losing the title in the battle.. a new char I had spent 3 hours doing *every* quest (trying out all secondaries, everything). Did the PVP (dying twice but winning the match), continued to Ascalon, and noticed I had lost the title progress. I was a bit peeved. Learned that you can avoid the PVP battle later when I remade him. Just logout before it starts. To be safe, I waited about 5 minutes before logging back in. Dunno if it matters. |

Every time I've done the PVP fight, my team has 1-2 henchmen and the highest level is 7-8, while the other team has no henchmen, and the highest level is 10-12.
Really puts me off the whole thing. |

Hmmm. Nice. So I can go into International district 2 when nobody is there, log in and hope for henchies. Hopefully the whole PvP will be skipped. If it is not skipped, maybe I can log out staright away and everybody thinks I had an err=7 or somoething?
Thanks for the help guys Do you think people will be annoyed if I log out of this battle? Somebody mentioned it is not that really a serious part of the game. |

I wouldn't mind if you logged out, because 9 out of 10 times you are teaming up with lvl 2 and 3 players. Who cares? |

Quick Question about the Survivor Title -
Does anyone know if the survivor title is reserved exclusively for those with 0 deaths, or if perhaps its possible by gaining experience and not dying now for existing characters?
Thanks for any replies. PS. What I'd really love to hear from is someone who has tried getting the survivor title after deaths. |

Ok my question (KINDA AIMED AT YOU, YES YOU GUILDWAR DESIGNERS)
How come my OLD character cannot get a shot at this? If I would have known I get a title for not dying 13 months ago, I would have tried not to die LOL. I'm at this great farming area, I get 336 XP PER KILL, and I kill 18 mobs PER RUN, with each run taking 7 or less minutes. so like 45K XP an hour. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN I WOULD BE 1ST PERSON TO GET THE HIGHEST SURVIVOR! |

There are other titles that they should've retro activated, such as the wisdom one, etc etc, and also the 5000 xp you get for capping a skill.

Question about Mo/N
How well does the 55 HP monk/spiteful spirit necro work for Factions? I want to go for the survivor title and need to know which minions I'll have trouble with alone.
If this isn't the best choice for Factions what would be a good build to solo farm and hopefully obtain survivor? Thanks! |
